Gary 'Smiler' Turner

Gary Turner is a Professional Sportsman, a Certified Practitioner of Hypnosis and Certified NLP Practitioner, a Personal Trainer, a Trainer giving Seminars and Motivational Speaking, and a Business Owner.

Gary has dedicated his life to the relentless pursuit of excellence in any field endeavoured. This is highlighted by his sporting achievements over the last 30 years that has seen him achieve 13 World Titles. Gary still competes professionally at Martial Sports in the varied fields of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts, often incorrectly termed ‘Cage Fighting’), Kickboxing, Thai Boxing, and K1. Holding black belts in Judo, Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing he started competing in 1976, turned professional in the early 90’s and is still competing today aged 39.

The ‘Smiler’ nickname first arose in the early 90’s from Gary’s friendly, sporting attitude and healthy sense of humour. Gary has even been known to smile with the enjoyment of competition during many of his fights. These fights have been shown live on Eurosport and Channel 5, Bravo, and Sky Sports to name a few in this country, and too many channels around the world to note.

On the back of his sporting career Gary has carried out much media work including interviews and commentary work on broadcasts on Eurosport and Channel 5. He has carried out specialist stunt fights in film and in 2005 was subjected to 48 hours of interrogation under the same conditions used in Guantanamo Bay, shown as ‘The Guantanamo Guidebook’ on Channel 4. Gary is also a published writer with several articles published in magazines, and a book on efficient fat loss is imminent.

Gary strives for results as can be seen from his sporting career. He now applies this result-driven mentality to delivering the best therapy possible, and he prides himself on achieving fast and effective positive change in his clients. Gary is building a great track record of facilitating his clients removing their problems. There is a fast growing list of clients who have benefited from his approach to Therapy and performance whether in sport, business, or to improving their everyday lives. Gary is a Certified Practitioner of Hypnosis through the American Board of Hypnosis.

For the business world Gary delivers NLP Sales Training, NLP Rapport Training and Recruitment Consulting. He takes pride in seeing successful increases in profitability for companies – as well as the commission being earned by his individual clients. Gary fully understands the cross-over between the deliberate practice required to succeed in sport and that required by business, and again he applies his World Champion mentality to ensuring the greatest possible delivery to his business clients.

Classes and seminars have been taught by Gary since 1984, and this combines with all his sporting and life experience to give entertaining and informative talks as a motivational speaker. In recent years Gary has had various minor roles with the British Army, in particular in respect to the Army Boxing and Judo Teams, and has worked as a Subject Matter Expert on Unarmed Combat. 

Gary operates his own Building Surveying business and holds a BSc (Hons) and is Chartered through the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB).
